There’s a handy saving to be had on cookware as part of the current John Lewis clearance sale. You can save 20% on a Tefal Emotion Stainless Steel Saucepan. Which means the 16cm pan is just £25.60, and the 20cm version is £30.40. That’s a decent saving, if you need some new pans. And I do, having accidentally destroyed the budget set I bought at Tesco after moving house a few months ago!
Having somehow separated the lining from the base of my budget pans, I’m not exactly keen on non-stick flavouring for my cooking. And neither are the rest of my household. Plus replacing cheaper items every six months means the cost ends up being more than buying better quality in the first place.
So why the Tefal Emotion Stainless Steel Saucepan? Besides the discount, it’s got some really good features. So it’s 18/10 stainless steel and comes with a 10 year guarantee. It’s compatible with all hobs, including induction. And it’s dishwasher safe, as well as claiming it will be easy to clean by hand. I’ll reserve judgement on that until after I’ve had to scrub dried sauces from it.
The glass lid is handy, especially with an air vent to let out steam. And the interior capacity markings may mean I stop cooking for a family of eight every time I get on the stove. Which means I also then have to eat 4-6 portions of whatever I’ve been cooking. And finally, it’s oven safe for an hour up to 175°C (Gas Mark 4, 350°F). That’s a part of more and more recipes I’ve been looking at. And something which just isn’t possible with cheaper saucepans I’ve considered.
Having read some online reviews, it seems that the biggest issue is the pan handle showing wear after dishwashing. So not owning a dishwasher should ckeep the bakelite handle safe.
The only thing to note is that the 20% discount ends on the 15th July, 2018. So you haven’t got long if you’re tempted by a Tefal Emotion Stainless Steel Saucepan and want to save money.
